I saw this video like 2 months ago but I'm late as usual :p , so I'm doing my first blog on IBD[inflammatory bowel disease].
I mean this weekend is World IBD Day so it still fits š.I wasn't tagged by anybody but I encourage you to do this if you stumbled across it because you have IBD or I tagged you. You can do it in any media form such as blog,Youtube video, social media post etc. I am tagging some people I follow/they follow me on Instagram[tagged on IG as @anjuhla57].
1)What form of IBD do you have?
UC[ulcerative colitis]... I specifically have severe ulcerative pancolitis.
2)Why is IBD advocacy important?
Advocacy is important because itās important to enlighten something that isnāt well known cuz itās a topic that makes people uncomfortable. One's "faulty" digestive system is not something you want to talk about in length.Once you tell people, they are generally more understanding of it. Advocacy results in less stigma, better findings of treatments for researchers, funding for treatment/cures,expenses.It also is comforting to find people that suffer as much as you or even more. You wouldn't know unless they talked about it.
3)Describe a socially awkward moment with IBD.
I've had a few but I'll keep it non-graphic.One time where I saw someone I hadnāt seen in years and she doesnāt have social media as far as I know and I was like "hi, bye" because even though I didnāt have to go at that time, it only takes 2 seconds to feel the need to go.
4) What is a common stigma you run into?
Like anything else thatās not well known, there are plenty of stigmas. One that is common is, "just eat healthy and youāll be cured".
5)What do you want other people to know about IBD?
I want people to know that it isnāt caused by eating too much junk food and you canāt be treated by various methods of relaxation .
Thanks for reading and see you soon :).
