Selena Gomez's "Rare" Album

Updated: Jan 11, 2021

Hi! Today is a review of Selena Gomez's latest album "Rare". I was curious about this album since it was "4 years" since the last one and I knew it would be very popular. Also, I like her a lot. Her first album I remember listening to was Kiss & Tell when she was still with The Scene and one of my favorites was "Tell Me Something You Don't Know" which I still like. Most of the songs in Rare were co-written by the famous duo Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter. I enjoyed this album.

Rare- The title song, I waited to listen to it until the music video was live. I loved the message of being rare so, you shouldn't be treated like everyone else but, it doesn't mean you're better than everyone else.

Dance Again- A typical Selena Gomez dance styled song. It was interesting that it starts with a classical piano and then changes into an electronic dance style and you could tell this was written by Julia Michaels.

Look At Her Now - This song is great but, I hate the part with the " Mm-mm-mm" lyric, idk why. The message of showing your accomplishments after leaving someone who is toxic is great.

Lose You To Love Me- This song is a great, emotional, relatable ballad. I had to listen to it a couple of times to realize the section that she sampled Julia Michaels's "Issues". I was excited to hear it was produced by Finneas.

Ring - This song has such a cool rhythm. It could literally fit as a ring tone for your phone :P . The lyrics were also cool.

Vulnerable- One of my favorite songs.

People You Know- I loved the chorus's lyric " but people can go from people you know to people you don't". Those were the perfect words to, sum up situations with people.

Let Me Get Me- I admired the spooky vibes.

Crowded Room- I like 6lack so I was curious to hear this when I saw the tracklist. It was co-written by one of my favorite singer/songwriters Bebe Rexha. This song showcased Selena's range well.

Kinda Crazy- I was surprised to see one of the writers was Jasmine Thompson whom I watch on Youtube. It's a good song.

Fun- This song is peppy so, it's enjoyable.

Cut You Off- Loved the title. I loved this song especially since it's her 1st labeled song with explicit lyrics.

A Sweeter Place- I didn't remember who Kid Cudi was since he keeps disappearing from the music world. This song is pretty good and the message is relatable.

Let me know in the comments or on social media your favorite track[s] off the album. I ran a poll on Twitter and it was interesting because her 1st #1 top 100 hit was the least favorite out of the 4 songs I chose.
